We are in Milan to present “Deep Throat” (“La Vera Gola Profunda”) as part of the Gender Border Film Festival at the prestigious Teatro Franco Parenti, which is also celebrating its 50th anniversary. The 3rd edition of the festival features 8 films in competition and 2 out of competition. Linda Lovelace, worried because in the body of her numerous mercenary amorous performances, she confides in her friend and colleague Helen who advises her, after an intense and useless excercise, to resort to the teachings of sexologist Freud. On the other hand, having ended up in the study of Jung, Freuds' rival, Linda finds herself suffering from a strange sexual anomaly and settles down with the scholar as his assistant.

A talk will follow, moderated by Fabrizio Zanoni, critic and author, together with Christar and Gerard Damiano, daughter and son of the director.

Film fuori concorso: Linda Lovelace, preoccupata perché nel corpo delle sue numerose prestazioni amorose mercenarie non prova il massimo del piacere, si confida con l’amica e collega Helen che le consiglia, dopo una intensa e inutile ulteriore esperienza, di ricorrere al sessuologo Freudus. Finita, invece, nello studio di Jung, rivale di Freudus, Linda si scopre affetta da una strana anomalia sessuale e si assesta presso lo studioso come assistente.

Seguirà un talk moderato da Fabrizio Zanoni, critico e autore, assieme a Christar e Gerard Damiano, figlia e figlio del regista.

Christar and Gerard Damiano Jr

Visual Artist & Filmmaker Gerard Damiano Jr. and Sound Healer & Performance Artist Christar Damiano are the only children of director Gerard Damiano Sr. They grew up in Queens, New York, in a house that always seemed to have film in the refrigerator. They were on location in Miami with their family during the filming of Deep Throat. Reacting to their father’s arrest and subsequent prosecution, their mother reassured them that “People don’t understand him because he’s ahead of his time.” Gerard and Christar believe that their father’s time has finally come. They have dedicated themselves to preserving his legacy and continuing his fight for Freedom of Expression without censorship through their company Damiano Films.

About the Theater

The Teatro Franco Parenti was founded in 1972 as the Salone Pier Lombardo’ by Franco Parenti and Andr’e Shamamah. Upon Parenti’s death in 1989, Andr’e Shammah assumed full management of the theatre, and chose to name it after the deceased co-founder without changing its eclectic vocation. The theater’s program also featured an equally vibrant and diversified range of cultural events, concerts, film exhibitions, conferences, festivals, and presentations, making Teatro Parenti a point of reference on Milan’s cultural scene.

The theatre went through a major renovation from 2004-2008 with a design by Michele De Lucchi. Today, it includes three halls for performances, two foyers, two rehearsal rooms, new dressing rooms and offices, a space for post-performance refreshments, and a cafeteria.
